Why do rivers flow faster in its lower course? How can Karl Popper help us to understand the TOK issues of this question?

Why do rivers flow faster downstream?

  1. The river flows faster as there is less friction from the river banks to slow down the river. There is a larger amount of water due to tributaries, so the water will travel faster towards the center of the river where there is less resistance from the riverbanks and air.
